With the expansion of the role of social media in shaping political discourse, the analysis of politicians’ language as a mechanism for legitimizing and persuading audiences has become doubly important. This study critically analyzes Donald Trump’s tweets during the US-Israeli war with Iran (known as the “Ramadan War”) to examine the implicit meanings, linguistic mechanisms, and the role of text and image in shaping his political narratives. To this end, 167 text posts and 23 image posts related to Iran published by Trump on Truth Social from March 20, 2025 to June 20, 2026 were collected and analyzed. The theoretical framework of the study was based on Norman Fairclough’s (1995) three-level approach in the “linguistic” section and on Kress and van Leeuwen’s (2006) multifaceted model in the “visual” section. Based on the findings at the descriptive level, the lexical choices, syntactic structures, and writing features of the tweets created a communicative style based on emphasis, brevity, and salience of political positions, and at the interpretive level, the tweets formed a semantic framework for legitimizing actions through the representation of American power, the threat of Iran, and intertextual references. At the explanatory level, these patterns were linked to concepts such as power, security, deterrence, national interests, and transactional foreign policy. Image analysis also confirmed the role of visual elements in reproducing this discourse. These findings can be applied in critical analysis of digital political communication, media studies, and multifaceted research on social media.
