Time is the most important challenge for media translators in simultaneous interpretation of speeches. Other challenges are the speaker’s rate of speech, speech text, grammatical differences between the source and the target languages, and the quality of received voice. The success of simultaneous interpretation, therefore, depends on the interpreter's speed, skills, and creativity. This study aimed to analyze the techniques used in simultaneous interpretation of speeches in the media. To achieve this, Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah's speech on January 5, 2020, about the martyrdom of Lieutenant General Qasem Soleimani and his entourage was selected as the case study. Using Jan Pedersen's model, The study examined both the simultaneous interpretation and the written translation of the speech using descriptive-analytical method. The model includes six strategies: retention, specification, direct translation, generalization, substitution, and deletion. The results showed that the natural application of the target language in simultaneous interpretation was hindered by the instability of simultaneous interpretation compared to the speech text, the grammatical differences between Arabic and Presian languages, and the need to immediately deliver the interpretation to the audience. However, the interpreter's emotional expression and creativity in applying translation strategies, as well as conveying the key points of the speech into Persian, partially resolved this issue.
